How finding hidden treasures can make you rich

At year-end, I didn't meet my year-end goal.

Not even close.

The process to hit a goal is pretty formulaic

1. Set out a 3-month goal,

2. Break it down into weekly activities, and

3. Break it down into daily activities.

This is what I did 5 years ago when I hit my last big goal and passed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ exam.

So logically I followed this same path with a new goal.

But this time I failed.

I felt frustrated.

I work in a competitive, commoditized, and crowded industry as an investment advisor and financial planner.

Worse is that I don't even play golf!

Maybe I should just accept this reality of my industry? Maybe I should do something else?

Then I was watching the #todayshow with guest Ina Garten, host of Food Network program Barefoot Contessa who said cooking is all about serving people.

I thought cooking was all about eating amazing food??

When I was going through my major career transition 6 years ago, I wished I had someone to talk to, someone to serve me.

Now 6 years later, that hidden treasure and why I serve women in transition (divorce, death of a loved one, career change) …. is because I needed a version of me back when I was going through a huge transition.

Now I've started to hit my goal with my life’s work.

To quote Bill Rogers, CEO of Truist, who just spoke at the Harvard Business School Club of Atlanta Leadership Breakfast, “Women who live with purpose, whose courage and conviction make the world better—those are the women who inspire me and I’m thankful for them in my both my personal and professional life."

Your hidden treasure is your purpose and why this purpose is important to you. We all have hidden treasures.

Another hidden treasure is to have a husband who loves to cook and serve us escargot!!

If you or someone you care about is going through a divorce, please feel free to reach out to me, I can help.
