When A.J. Brown, a Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, was seen reading Inner Excellence by Jim Murphy on the sidelines during a playoff game, it sent shock waves.

The book helped Brown stay focused and positive during the game.

As a lover of all things interesting and inspiring, I bought the book, which has helped me find new inspiration.

Every week, I dig deep inside to discover what ideas and problems I want to explore.

There are so many things I want

- I want my daughter to become a famous singer-songwriter.

- I want to write a best-selling book that inspires women to invest in themselves.

- I want to continue to grow my practice.

As I struggled with these problems…I started writing my weekly post, and I realized that our inner struggles or our negatives can inspire us to take action or hold us back

How do we unpack this?

“So many people have chosen to identify with their struggles. They’ve chosen specific identities as anchors for life. … The stories you tell yourself create your reality. If you say, “I’m stuck,” you stay stuck. If you say, “I can change,” you start to change. Your mind listens to the words you repeat. It filters reality to match your beliefs. It’s called “confirmation bias.” If you believe you’re unworthy, your brain looks for proof." - someone i can't recall said this.

Our quest for meaning which helps us let go of our ego, away from being self-centered, and external goal-focused and shift towards self-awareness, we learn our inner talents, our inner strengthens so we show up better for others.

Writing helps me do this.

- Writing is a tiny portal into ourselves,

- It's how we feel and think, and learn about our truths and dark unknowns.

As an investor and advisor, I then shift my focus.

Instead of focusing on what I want, writing helps me shift the narrative to how I serve others.

What stories have I believed about who I am, what my life means, and how the world works?

It’s up to us to explore our inner world, our internal struggles so that we can develop inner excellence just like the Eagles!

I am now an Eagles fan and also my daughter lives in Philly!!

Thank you for reading!
