Money, Money, Money

The most important lesson I learned about money.

And it has nothing to do with budgeting.

It was being a poor girl in a rich man’s world.

Growing up with my single mom in Beverly Hills

my mother didn’t have much money other than alimony and

proceeds from selling her house in Connecticut.

She spent money like it was going out of style - her quote.

I couldn’t control her money-spending decisions.

But they had a huge impact on how I think about money.

When I was 14 years old, I came home, the landline phone didn’t work;

She had forgotten to pay her bills, and

I had to help her write out her monthly checks and balance her checkbook.

A memory I unpacked while free writing in my early 40s which helped me figure out what to do next in my career.

While my mom was good at math,

she never understood the implied interest rate when she bought a TV from Circuit City.

When she boosted, she is only paying $19/month and (for how many months?) gave a simple answer to credit, it didn’t make sense to me.

In Tom Morgan’s recent post on what money is.

He writes, “It’s not that money isn’t “real” (whatever that means), it’s that there’s a force that’s more powerful than money that can influence the flow of everything, including money.”

Helping my mom out while young was a small memory that has compounded in my life in so many great ways.

With Tom’s blog, I am now able to appreciate the discomfort and fear I left when i wasn't confident 10 years ago if I would have enough money.  I wasn't in the flow of things.

It allowed me to reframe this emotion as a creation of my own soul to show me where my power is hidden.  To go out and create a new energy field.

If you avoid dealing with money - there is a pain you experienced when you were young. When you learn what that negative experience was, it can open up your truth and your soul.

I discovered the truth in my early 40s that maybe I should pivot in my career and become an advisor.  It's my truth and it's in my soul to help others with their money.

When you don't understand your money, it can create anxiety.

I'm here to help you on your journey!
